Meghan Shaw is a Conservation Marketing researcher with a specialty in conservation imagery. Her research delves into the best ways to build and use images in conservation campaigns and social media to deliver effective and inspiring messages. Meghan’s work has informed a range of international policies around wildlife photography and communication, and has been presented in a range of international media publications. 


2022

On August 30th, 2022 we welcomed two engaging and knowledgeable speakers to share their insights on our theme: How does digital media affect human-nature relationships and impact conservation?

Understanding how films affect environmental change through the lens of narrative persuasion.

Chris McCormack is the co-founder and managing director of Australia’s first nature connection charity, Remember The Wild. He has a background in ecology and marine biology, and is currently studying a PhD in conservation psychology; investigating the links between narrative and connection with nature. Chris is a passionate communicator who enjoys telling stories about the natural world through a variety of mediums, including; film, podcasts, and more. 


Measuring the conservation impacts of non-profit and researcher social media posts on primates and people.

Dr Cassie Freund is a recently minted PhD and fellow at the Center for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability at Wake Forest University looking for a non-academic job in conservation. In addition to her conservation marketing research, she studies the impacts of natural disturbances on tropical forests in Peru and Indonesia. You can find her on Twitter @CassieFreund.
